Hammers take on the Kent Eagles
The Thurrock Hammers will return to track action once again, when they take on The Kent Eagles at Iwade speedway for the KenEx Trophy on Sunday 1st of June (gates 10am- tapes up midday)
The Nora League style format will see two teams of seven riders, with a ‘rising star’ at Number 7, following the ethos of both clubs to provide track time and opportunities to up and coming riders.
The Hammers are delighted to announce former Hammer and current Championship rider Alfie Bowtell as number 1, who delivered an impressive 13 points the last time the Hammers raced at Iwade against the Eastbourne Eagles.

Hammers Director Mark Sexton commented:
“We are again grateful to Michael Gray and David Graveling for inviting us back to Iwade to take on the newest team in British Speedway, the Kent Eagles.
We also appreciate the assistance of the BSPL who, by officially sanctioning this fixture, are demonstrating their support for our campaign to see the sport return to Essex.
Both Michael and David have worked tirelessly through the Sussex Eagles Motorcycle club, to get the Kent Eagles on track in the National Trophy league in 2025, including lots of improvements at Iwade itself, as was seen in their opening fixture against The Leicester Lion Cubs.
The Eagles have put together a strong team, but we are confident that the seven ‘Hammers’ we have selected will deliver the inaugural KenEx Trophy back to Essex”
