The Hammers are complete

The Thurrock AsMatt Ltd Hammers team to take on the Eastbourne ‘Watling Tyres’ Eagles at Iwade Speedway this Sunday, the 22nd September (tapes up midday) is now complete.

The Nora League format will see six Hammers take on the Eagles, with the team having a distinctive Essex related feel throughout.

Alfie Bowtell, who rode for the Hammers in 2017 and 2018 spearheads the team at number one, joined by Connor King, who helped the Hammers clinch victory against The Kent Kings in the Tunnel Trophy back in May.

The Eagles line up with former Eagles number 1 Edward Kennett, Workington star Paul Starke, Dayle Wood, Arran Butcher, Matt Marson and Henning Loof in their team.

Hammers team manager Mark Sexton commented

“There have been dozens of high octane clashes between the Hammers and Eagles over the years and I’m sure that the meeting on Sunday will be just as exciting.

Deliberately, the riders we have been able to select all have distinctive, long standing links to the Arena Essex and Lakeside clubs which we believe reflects the history of the sport and the current depth of talent from the local area.

We hope that putting on this meeting sends a clear message that the county, which first staged speedway racing in the UK nearly a hundred years ago, deserves a track within its borders!”
